K-1 Grand Prix Final

Current time is just before 5 AM, the first Semi Final of the 17th Grand Prix final are about to start betweeen Semmy Schilt & Peter Aerts. Fifth meeting between the two, series is tied 2-2.

Peter Aerts won a 3 round decision over Semmy Schilt to advance to the finals of K-1 Grand Prix. Next up is the second semi final Gokhan Saki vs Alistair Overeem. Both men fought to decisions but Saki's Quarter final went to an Extra round so he'll robably have less gas in the tank.

Saki was still busted up from his first fight and the fight was stopped by the ref a couple of minutes into the first round. This sets up a final of Peter Aerts vs Alistair Overeem.
Apparently Saki had a broken right hand going into that Semi Final match up which explains why he couldn't continue vs Overeem.

In the K-1 Grand Prix Finals Overeem eventually got Aerts into a corner and threw punches till the fight was stopped. Aerts crumpled over and did not get up making Alistair Overeem your 2010 K-1 Grand Prix Champion. After the fight the announcers suggested that Alistair's next fight would be for the DREAM HW title at the year end Dynamite show. That would be a really awesome way for Overeem to finish out the year.

"Good lord, what a terrible way to retire someone. It's like a viking funeral except they didn't wait for the guy to die."
